Mozhdah Jamalzadah is an Afghan-Canadian singer, songwriter and performer whose career has connected Afghan and Persian musical traditions with contemporary pop for nearly two decades. Born in Kabul and raised in Vancouver, she rose to prominence with “Dokhtare Afghan (Afghan Girl)” and has since built an international career spanning recorded music, television and live performance. Her career highlights include performing at the White House for President Barack Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama, releasing the albums Act One and Words, and building a substantial international audience. Her catalogue has generated over 40 million YouTube views, alongside approximately 1 million Instagram followers and 1.5 million Facebook followers. Now entering a new chapter as a recording artist, Mozhdah is developing contemporary Afghan/Persian pop that combines traditional musical influences with polished Western production, with the goal of reconnecting with her core audience while reaching a broader international market.
